Top 4 Ways to Fix Safari Crash Issue on Your Mac
Experiencing random crashing when using Safari browser? Have no idea how to fix Safari crashes on your Mac? If your Safari browser crashes continually but randomly, try the following methods to help fix the problem.
Way 1: update to the latest version of Safari
Yes, sometimes you can simply update to the latest version of Safari (and OS X) to remedy periodic or random crashes, especially when the crashes or freezing up is caused by a known bug that has been fixed officially. Keeping updated is generally beneficial for your Mac performance and security. If you haven’t updated Safari for a long time, it is worth a try to install the update and see if it helps fix crashing.
- To do so, go to the Apple menu on the top bar, click App Store from there, and head to the Updates pane to install the available versions of Safari and/or Mac OS X.

Way 3: disable 3rd party extensions & plugins

- To disable extensions, open the the Safari Preferences pane, click Extensions ta, and turn off active extensions one by one to figure out if any of them causes the problem.
- To disable plugins, quite Safari, open Finder and hit Command+Shift+G keys.
- Enter the following path and click on Go button: /Library/Internet Plug-ins/
- Create a backup folder on the Desktop, and move the files in /Library/Internet Plug-ins/ folder to the backup folder to identify if any of them causes the problem.
After you find out the problematic extension or plugin that leads to Safari crashing, disable or remove it to keep your Safari work fine, and also you can continue to enable other well-behaved 3rd party extensions & plugins on Safari as you like.
Way 4: reset Safari to troubleshoot issues
Tried all the remedies provide above but to no avail? The last way you can try is to reset Safari. The resetting contents include all browser history, Top Sites list, location warnings and preferences, website notifications and warnings, website data, etc.
- Open Safari, head to the Safari menu on the top bar and choose Reset Safari option.
- In the Reset Safari window, keep every checkbox checked, and hit Reset button.
- Quite Safari, and then relaunch it to make the reset take full effect.
