Welcome to the Online Help Community!

SEG's Online eCommunities provide the perfect platform for members of the geosciences community to share and collaborate with others who have similar professional backgrounds. And the best place to get started with an SEG eCommunity is here at the SEG Online Help Community. The SEG Online Help Community is your one-stop shop for information, documentation, and training designed to assist you in managing your online profile and account features. Ultimately, the Online Help Community can help you to engage with your peers in a meaningful way.

The Online Help Community contains three components designed to help you as you participate in SEG eCommunities:

  • Frequently Asked Questions—This page contains questions and answers about every aspect of the SEG Web site. Start here when you need to find an answer fast.
  • Guides and Videos—For more detailed information about managing your profile or creating and maintaining an eCommunity, view these short videos right from your computer. You can also access downloadable documents that provide step-by-step, concrete instructions to help you accomplish your online goals.
  • Forum—The Online Help Community Forum provides an online "meeting space," where you can initiate or take part in an existing conversation with other members of the eCommunity. Whether you want to find out more about joining an eCommunity, or you just want to lend a hand to others, the Online Help Community Forum is the place to connect with other experts in the field.

Tip of the Week

thread – a series of online postings that share a common subject. The initial post is the thread, with all subsequent postings being referred to as reply posts.

Tip: To create a new thread, simply click on the Post New Thread button at the top of the forum. The only information that is required prior to publishing is the Subject and Body. Additionally, you can assign special search tags to facilitate the retrieval of the thread in a forum search or attach files. If you should choose to Save as Draft, you will only be able to retrieve the thread when the My Posts link is selected at the top of the discussion forum. When done, select the Publish button.
